Help save animals Summer Learning Journey

On your blog, list 10 animals that you would protect from extinction. For each one, give a reason as to why you think it is important to protect.
  1. Snow Leopards, because they are unique and can adjust to the snow.
  2. Orangutans , because of the beautiful colour of their fur
  3. Gorillas, because they are smart and intelligent animals
  4. Sea Turtles, because they are gentle and harmless creatures
  5. Sumatran Elephants, because it is the biggest land animal in the world
  6. Tigers, they are harmful but when left alone are beautiful to look at
  7. Rhinos, because they would rather eat plants than other animals
  8. Giant Pandas, because they are fluffy and cute
  9. Sea otters, because they can live their whole lives in the water compared to other sea creatures
  10. Saola, because it is also known as the Asian Unicorn

  1. Hi Evangeline,

This is Leslie, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team.

I'm so glad that you've been a part of this program this summer. Good on you!

You've created an excellent list of animals that you would like to see protected. You have a lot of variety - they're not all cats, or all bears etc. Well done!

I'm glad that you've also included both land animals and sea animals. It can be easy to forget about the sea creatures because they tend to be less talked about than the tigers or elephants, for example.

Have you ever seen any of these animals yourself? I visited the Auckland zoo last year and saw many of them there. I appreciate that the zoo gives us a chance to see these animals in person so that we can appreciate just how beautiful, strong and elegant they are. It helps us feel more strongly about protecting them in their natural environments.

I hope that you've had some fun out in nature this summer and that you enjoyed this program.

I'll continue to enjoy reading your blog.

    Cheers,

    Leslie
