Summer learning Journey Working out

Words
The way I worked it out was I had to figure how many days were in a year and there are 365 then I split it like this 300-60-5 then I timed each one separately but then I realized I couldn't times them by 3 because they were to big of a number so instead of 300 I did 3 and 3 times 3 is 9 so 3 times 300 is 900. After that instead of 60 I did 6 and 3 times 6 is 18 which means 3 ties 60 would be 180 and the last number I left it as its original number which is 5 so 3 times 5 is 15 and then I added it altogether so 900 + 180 = 1080 and 1080 + 15 = 1095 so the answer is 1095.

Numbers
3 x 365 = ?
3 x 3 = 9 - 3 x 300 = 900
 3 x 6 = 18 - 3 x 60 = 180
3 x 5 = 15
900 + 180 = 1080
1080 + 15 = 1095
3 x 365 = 1095

  1. Morning Eva,

Thanks for the lovely comment you left on my blog!

Wow what an amazing way to solve out this math equation. I really like how you explained in numbers but also words! Maybe next time space a little bit of your numbers out. Overall this is an amazing blog post!

    Keep up the good work

  3. Kia ora Evangeline,
I love Maths, specially the "working out" part because it shows that no problem is too big when you can break it down in small steps and also that are many paths to solve a problem. You did well on using place value partitioning to solve this problem. Next time make sure to use one line for each step so your post has more clarity and it can be easy to read and understand.
Another solid post! Keep up the good work!
