Last post at school this year

Dear blog readers,
This is my last post for this year because it is the last day at school with our Chromebooks before we go on Christmas holidays.

Thank you for reading my blog post this year. In this blog post, I will be telling you about some of my highlight of this year.

My first highlight this year is when we went to Camp Bentzon because of all the activities we got to do. We had a lot of opportunities, some were very challenging well others were quite easy.

My second highlight is when our year 6 Extension group got the chance to make UV sensors. it was very fun and we also learnt a lot from making it.

My final highlight is being able to be one of the first people to talk to visitors as I am an ambassador. Its a really great opportunity to be an ambassador as they are a big part of the  school and we get to go to different universities.

Kawau island top tips

Dear future campers, Camp Bentzon has a really high chance of being your favorite experience. Camp Bentzon is a camp that is on Kawau island, it also includes a lot of activities on both land and water. The activities may require a lot of movement which may or may not make you tired or very worn out depending on the types of things you are good at and things you aren’t used to and/or good at! Everyday you will need to run up Killer hill, On the first day it would feel like a very long and tiring trip on killer hill, however every day after that at camp they make you run a shorter amount of the hill. Kawau island is going to be a very big change to your normal life in Auckland!

Now I will share 5 top tips about camp that will make your experience better. My first tip is about Killer Hill, The first thing you will need to know about killer hill is that it is a very long way to walk, so make sure to bring the right clothes and shoes! At first you will probably feel like you may fall but I assure you that if you concentrate and make sure not to think about it too much you will safely get to a flatter part of the hill. You will go up and down the hill several times until you get to the bottom then you will eat morning tea there and you will also be able to play in the park, Then you will need to walk back up the mountain until you get back to camp ground, It’s a really long trip.

The next tip is about bedtime, On the first night you may feel super excited and you might even be to excited to go to sleep at the right time. But you really do need to go to sleep at the right time because you will need a lot of energy for everyday as each day includes water or dry activities and on the last day you will need to do activities as well as pack up and let me tell you now that there is a lot of work and effort you will need to put into cleaning and/or packing up. So make sure to get enough sleep so you can have enough energy for the day.

Now let's move on to tips that are a bit sneaky in ways you may or may not understand. So this tip is about being able to get more food than they allow one person to get. The first this you will need to do is you might be able to get seconds but i'm sure you won't be able to get 3rd. If you are still hungry after you eat your 2nd meal you may want a 3rd meal. If there is more you could change your hat and ask for another one without looking at the server because they might recognize you, so make sure to try your best to cover your face but at the same time be polite. If you aren’t sure about that idea maybe you could get a friend who hasn’t had seconds and who doesn't want seconds, you could ask them to get seconds and if they could give it to you? Keep in mind the first suggestion may only work when you get your lunch from the window, it's kinda like a drive through but for humans Just make sure to be polite!

The next tip is about possible being able to stay in the water for a bit longer then the amount of time they gave you. To be able to achieve this you may or may not need to be on the wharf. While everyone else was in the ocean I was on the wharf I got to stay on the wharf 10 minutes longer then we were allowed a the time. I don’t know if that occurs to yous all next year but it's worth a try.

Now for the last tip, it's about holding on to your hat when coming on and/or off the ferry or when standing on the wharf. I am telling you about this because my friend Mia’s hat flew off her head. I believe her and her friends were playing around and as she carried on playing she lost grip of her hat and the wind got very strong then her hat flew off her head. At the time it was very funny but as time passed by, she realized that she had just lost her hat and it was no longer funny to her. Another person's hat flew off while they laughed because of their friends joke. So I recommend listening to teachers and hold onto your hats on both the wharf and on the ferry as the wind picks up when your on the ferry, but keep in mind that you only need to hold onto your hat when in your on the roof of the ferry.

Overall I think camp is one of my favorite experiences every. Camp had all sorts of things that entertained me in lots of different ways. I loved Camp Bentzon and I think you will to. All of the activities are different and some may be very challenging for you and some may be very easy but just keep in mind that everyone has different weaknesses that may or may not be the same as your so make sure to be respectful towards them.  Task Description:Mr Goodwin has given a task and to be able to complete it correctly we had to read a lot about sea animals. We had to put the correct sea animal in the correct slot by reading information about the animal and making sure the animal fit the description. 

Rocky Shore Writing

The Rocky Shore is an inter-tidal habitat which commonly has various zones. The rocky shore is amazing and filled with animals that are very beautiful.This zone is called the Supra-tidal or splash zone. It is only covered during storms and extremely high tides and it is soaked by the water of breaking waves. Animals like the isopods, barnacles, limpets live in the splash zone during the winter, they are found lower on the inter-tidal rocks.The inter-tidal zone is in between high tide and low tide. High tide is normally controlled by physiological on temperature and drying. Low tide is mostly determined by the presence of predators or competing species. The animals that live in the inter-tidal zone are anemones, barnacles, chi-tons, crabs, green algae, isopods, limpets, mussels, sea lettuce, sea palms, sea stars, snails, sponges, and whelks.The Sub-Tidal zone is the area below the inter-tidal zone and most of the time it's covered by water. Organisms do not dry out as often as organisms higher on the beach. They grow much faster and are better in competition for the same bay. More nutrients are gained  from the water and they are  from extreme changes in temperature.The rocky shore is an inter-tidal area which is very common to New Zealanders.The rocky shore has many different zones including the Splash zone also known as the Supra-tidal, Sub-tidal zone and Inter-tidal zone.  The rocky shore is a beautiful area that has many different species of animals living there.


Task Description:  Mr Goodwin has asked us to finish a writing task. in order to finish this task we need to be able to remember things about the rocky shore. We were writing about the Rocky Shore. We also got create a picture that we used for reading.We created a picture that showed all the zones and different animals that live in the Rocky Shore.

Write like a year 6 (part 2)

It is a dark and stormy night, shadows cover the 2 story house in darkness. Lightning strikes and suddenly quiets down. Only being broken by the voices of the dead houses owners. I look closely and the curtains, suddenly they open up but looking inside I see darkness and as the lighting strikes it opens up a pathway of light throughout the house, all you are able to see is bright red blood dripping down the wall, It's still wet. I start to question if it's haunted or not.

Blood drips down the walls of the grey ruined house. As I get closer to the house more blood appears and I start to see faces. After their faces appear I start to see that the other half of their bodies are gone! Ghosts appear and the lightning starts getting louder and louder. I start to think they don't want me near their house so I back away slowly but as I get further and further away fog rises off the ground mysteriously. I start to sprint past the house but it seems when I run I go past the house again and again! So I stop running and I end up in front of the house again I freak out I'm so scared. What should I do!?

Task Description: Mr Goodwin has asked us to participate in a writing task that includes us to write like an year 6. To successfully complete this task we will need to make sure the structure of each paragraphs story's are good and our punctuation is right. We also needed some simple and complex sentences.

Fake recount about a hot dog eating contest

Walt: Create fake recount

Sometimes my mum makes me do some weird things. One time she even made me compete against my family in a hot dog eating competition. When she asked me I said yes but I didn't know what I was in for. I thought this was more for someone much bigger than me like my older brother because he can eat a lot.

Yesterday my mum asked me if I wanted to do something exciting. She said “would you want to have a hot dog eating competition”. I replied “YES PLEASE!!” I was so amazed because it's not normal for her just to ask something like that. I knew it was going to be fun! I thought she meant to go out a place and have a hot dog eating competition but I was wrong. We got to do something even better. I got to do it at home! We had 5 rounds to do, and whoever passes all of them would win. The winner could pick whoever had to do their chores for the whole week.

The first round I had to compete against was my little sister’s. I was so happy because I knew I would win. I ate four and a half and my little sisters could only eat 2 each which meant they only ate four and that meant I had won. I wasn’t that excited because I knew I would beat them anyway. I only knew that because they never eat much.

The next round was a bit harder because I had to compete against my older sister. My sister ate five which was hard because I already ate 4 and a half but for some reason I ate five and I was so full. But then I saw the other half of the hot dog. It was from the round before so I decided to eat it. Which meant I won! I was so happy I beat her but I was also so scared to do the next round as it was against my older brother.

It was so hard because I already ate ten hot dogs and that meant I couldn't eat as many. It also meant I couldn't eat any more. That meant I lost the third round! It was against my brother. He eats more than all his siblings sometimes he can eat more than my dad so I would have lost anyway. I was fine with losing but then it was up to my brother to win against my mum and my dad or it could be the other way around.

I stayed to watch and it turned out my brother beat both my dad and my mum I was shocked but I knew he was going to win anyway. I was just hoping he didn't choose me to do his chores and he didn't he choose my older sister! I was so happy but I felt sad for her because she had lots of chores to do so I decided to do some of her chores and once I thought it was enough just for her to handle. I let her do the rest.

In the end we all had a great time being able to have so much fun with hot dogs! I hope I would get another opportunity like this. It was so fun but it made me feel unwell. I said hesitatingly “Will we do this all the time?” My mum realized I wasn’t feeling well so she replied “ No not all the time but maybe every now and then”.

Treasure chest

One day I was sailing on a boat. I learnt how to steer and how to catch the wind to make the boat go faster, but what I didn’t know was how to stop it from going out to far into the sea. I ended up sailing out way to far into the sea. I was so scared but then I saw a little island. It was very dry and it looked like a desert island. I had to stay there because I had nowhere else to go. So I went there. Sadly there was no food, no water and no rescue either. I got to the island and sat there for a bit. Then I decided to have a look around. Because I decided to look around, I found a treasure map. I was so happy but mostly surprised because I have never seen anything like it. It had so much detail on it. I was confused because I didn't understand pirate language but I found a way to understand it.

It took me to a strange place. I looked around and found a strange looking spot on the dry sand. I started to dig in that unusual looking spot. I dug for a bit but then I hit something hard. I tipped the sand out of the hole and I found a treasure chest. I looked at it then I tried to open it but there was a lock. I looked on the outside and I saw a clue. It was about the lock and how to open it. I ended up under a tree. I dug for a while and saw something shiny. I washed all the dirt off of it and it turned out to be a key. I Tried to unlock it and it wouldn’t work. I tried all the other keys but one. None of them worked but then I tried the last one and I finally opened it.

 Inside was a whole lot of coins. There was diamonds too. I was so happy and I had no idea what I was going to do with all of it. I saw paper and it said that all of that was worth $25,000. I looked at the date and it said 1985. I realized that it was worth so much more now. It was worth millions more. I was so happy so I decided to send a note in the bottle asking for some help and in doing so I received help.

 I got home and told my family about it. They were so happy and said I could keep it all. I was so happy and decided to save some to give it to my parents. In doing so they had enough money to buy us a mansion.

 I had a room so big that it looked like a mini house. I could fit lots of stuff in there and all my siblings had the same sized room. My parents got the biggest room. We all had our own closets. We also all had kings beds. I bought all my stuff with the money I had left over. I bought a hammock, a swing chair, couch, a smart TV and much more. I bought some new clothes, shoes, a new phone, laptop and iPad. I also got air pods which were very expensive. I still had lots of money left over so I decided to ask what pet my siblings would want. My older sister asked for a guinea pig so I bought her a guinea pig. Then I asked my brother and he said a kitten I also bought him that. My mum and dad wanted a bunny so I bought it. Last but not least I wanted a puppy and I got it. My baby sisters just played with our pets because they can’t look after a pet by themselves yet. I had $1 million left over so I bought all of our pets food beds and toys to play with. I ended up buying a Jacuzzi because I still had money left over. I had $8000 left so I bought some picture frames and a lamp for me. I bought a desk to put it on and I bought a chair with wheels so I can sit on my desk. I only had $1000 left so I bought some food and gave it to some homeless people. I had 50 dollars left and I decided to use it on our dinner so I bought us dinner.

 That was the best day of my life. My family and our pets were happy to. Even My baby sisters were happy and there not always happy. I was glad to see how happy my family were but most of all I got to spend even more time with them. I hope you enjoyed this story!

 Task description: Today Mr Goodwin asked ask to write a piece of year 6 writing. I was so happy to do this as I completed it and improved my writing to. I have made a piece of year six writing. Mr Goodwin has told us to make 3 and write 2-3 paragraphs for each picture.

Kia ora and welcome to my blog. My name is Evangeline but people call me Eva for short and I go to Point England school. This year I am a year 6, my teacher’s name is Mr Goodwin and I'm in room 7. I have 3 sisters and 1 brother, my older sister comes to this school and she is a year 7, my older brother goes to Sacred Heart College and this is his first year and my twin baby sisters go to kindergarten.

I enjoy going to the pools more than I like going to the beach because you can have inside or outdoor pools, I don’t like going to the beach very much because it can only be outdoors and also because you get very sandy once you get out of the water. My favorite sport is tag or netball I like netball because you can get fitter and have fun at the same time. I also have been playing netball for 5 years and we have been undefeated for the first 4 years. I like tag because it's not as rough as rugby or league but it is a similar game. I like to eat foods like butter chicken or curry because sometimes curry can be spicy and I love spicy food. I like butter chicken because it can be sweet, sour and spicy. I don't have much hobbies but I like to jump on my trampoline.

I have lots of friends and there names are Jane, Oalii, Madi, Norah-jade, Mia, Sivaenah and Zoe. My friends are very kind and they are also very funny. If me or my friends get bored we can use anything around us to keep us entertained. I have amazing friends.

For this task we used a template given to us by Mr Goodwin to write about ourselves for the about me section on our blog. We had to think about our different interests, hobbies and information about ourselves in a way that is Cyber-smart.

Hi my name is Eva and this is my animation about cave drawings, Long ago, there was an ancient tribe from the country now known as Africa. The tribe lived off the land and had to hunt and gather for their food. In this land, the impressive lion was the ultimate prize because it provided food for the whole tribe. Only the most mighty and cunning warriors could hunt such an animal. This is the story of one such tribe, on an epic hunt to catch one of these mighty animals. The lion was looking for food but got confronted by the mighty hunters. The first person struck but died in the process, then the next person struck but died as well so they came up with the idea of having a group but that didn’t work so they got into a bigger group of 6 and that worked perfectly so they were happy and they went back to there hideout space and cooked it. It turned into meat then they got some big stones and used it as plates then ate it they were all so happy The End

That Really Stinks

The monster touched to button but that time it didn’t work so they kept trying but it didn’t work and that was because the monsters tentacles were slippery but he didn’t give up. He was getting angry so he gave it to the other monsters but they couldn't do it so they throw it away and Sam ran to get it but the monsters heard him. The monsters were shocked but they let him leave. Sam had no one to take him back so he sat the. The monsters felt guilty for taking the phone so they took him back home and Sam showed him sister the monster and then Sam's sister believed him and they were very happy.

Tewa Toi

Today we went to assembly in the morning. At assembly Team 1 started it. They had there own piece of paper. They had to only use white paint and they made individual arts. When they put it together and it made a lion it was so fun to watch it but when it was individual it looked so different. 

Team 2 had a video and in the video they were talking about themselves. but one of the teachers said it didn’t include any painting so they had to paint whatever they wanted but they had to draw it before the video ended and that’s what they did. personally i thought Mrs Gaston won but Mrs carter's painting was good too.

Team 3 had weird suits on. Miss Eadie and Miss King painted on Mr Moran, Mrs Scanler and Miss Moran. Then after they got painted they would lye on the paper and they tried to make a unique painting. Miss Eadie painted on Mr Moran's face with blue paint and it was so fun to watch. They said they would sell it to see how much money they could get from it.

Team 4 had to paint someone. They chose Mr Moran and they called him up to do some poses. When he did his poses they had to attempt to paint him but when they painted him he had blue paint on his face from when he was in Team 3's turn. I loved to see what they could draw. It was so cool but most of them weren’t even close to what he was posing. Mr Goodwin painted a Simpsons character it was so cool to see what he could do.

Team 5 were pretending to be a class. Mr Wiseman was the fake teacher he was so funny it was so cool. They all had a paint brush and they had to draw what they wanted to draw. Then after they painted it they told us why they painted it and then Mr Wiseman told us his opinion and it was very different to what they said. I love the assembly and it was so fun to watch but it was very long and fun. I wished there were more things to see and videos to watch. I can’t wait for next year because we have one every year/term.

Welcome to my animation this term we are learning about move ya body and we had to pick a sport to animate and I picked soccer because I thought it will be fun. The game soccer is a type of game where you can not use your hand unless you are the goalkeeper so the goal is to kick the ball hard enough to make it into the goal and the goalkeeper tries to block it from going in and he/she can use their hands or legs My animation will ensure you that if you just keep moving ya body your body will be happy and so will you, and if you do other activities you can be more active because you and your body are happy. Movie Narrative

Once upon a time there was 3 Girls that were just starting school their names are Mele, Anna and Bella. Mele and Anna were very shy when they first got to Pt England school but Bella wasn’t. Bella could see that they were very shy so she said “do you need a friend?” but they were to shy to answer so she just assumed they they did need a friend. She would always help and look after them. As they started to grow Anna and Mele got less shy and they got to work on i pads until they were year 4, They were getting sick of I pads so they wanted to see if they could find anything else to work on, it was kinda like a treasure hunt. As they were searching they found lots of random things like money, tools, and pens they kept looking but they couldn’t find anything, It was getting dark and they were getting tired but Bella didn’t give up, so while Anna and Mele were asleep Bella was still looking and as she was looking she found a Chromebook, as soon as she found it she woke Bella and Mele up and she told them that she found it. They got so excited so they tried to find enough for everyone. They were still looking but eventually they found enough. As soon as they got to the point where they got enough they told there teachers that they found Chromebooks and there teachers allowed it.
